Leslie Giarraputo has been a successful hairdresser for over 36 years. She’s been “behind the chair” as a precision haircutter, a creative colorist, and as a natural hair extension artist.
She has done editorial work, television shows and fashion shows in Kansas City metro area. Leslie considers her trade to be her art and she cannot remember a time when she was not “beauty obsessed”.

Obsessed with the Beauty Industry
Early in her career, Leslie took a position as a regional educator for Toni and Guy, where she helped produce and facilitate local classes and shows. She then accepted a position as an educator with L’Oreal Professionnel. Leslie organized regional salon classes on color theory and techniques, and was also a stage artist and educator at large tradeshows.
Leslie has been a hair extension artist for the last 20 years, and has been consistently busy in obtaining many certifications from the top hair extension brands. This led her to working with actresses, models, and other performers as a freelance extension artist in Los Angeles.
In 2004, Leslie opened her own salon and spa business called Lulu Salon and Spa, Inc. A home to over 15 different service providers, she purchased the freestanding 2000 ft.² commercial property that held her business and she remained a successful salon owner in Overland Park, Ks for over 20 years.
Salon Selling Expert & Salon Community Leader
In 2024, Leslie sold her commercial property, commanding the highest property value in the Fox Hill area of Overland Park, and setting a financial precedent for the surrounding properties. She also created and is the sole administrator for “The Salon and Spa Network of KC”.
The Salon & Spa Network of KC is a private, beauty industry Facebook group with nearly 7000 local members, and THE go-to for the Kansas City salon community for resources.
Leslie remains a highly recognizable name in the Kansas City beauty community. She works part time as a hairstylist and is an independent contractor with Image Salon Studios. She’s elevated her knowledge and is helping other entrepreneurs by identifying their business dreams, nurturing their achievable visions and securing their goals in the beauty industry.
